This is to notify you that petitions were timely filed and certified seeking recounts of the votes cast at the November 4, 2025 City Election for the positions of: Mayor (filed by Jean Bradley Derenoncourt); Councillor at Large, excepting Ward 4 (filed by Judith Nelson); Ward One Councillor (filed by Ulisses Varela); Ward Three Councillor (filed by Gary Keith); Ward Three School Committee (filed by Matthew Stanton); and Ward 5 Councillor (filed by Ellie Teixeira).
The Election Commission has scheduled the recount/or November 22, 2025, beginning promptly at 9:00 a.m. at the Shaw’s Center, 1 Feinberg Way, in Brockton. The recounts will be held simultaneously, meaning that the votes cast for:
Mayor will be recounted for all wards in the City;
Councillor at Large will be recounted in all wards excepting Ward 4;
Ward Councillor will be recounted in Wards One and Five; and
Ward Councillor and School Committee will be recounted in Ward Three.
The recounts will be carried out in accordance with applicable law, G.L. c.54, §135 and guidance from the Secretary of the Commonwealth as outlined in a booklet entitled, “Election Recounts”,
