BROCKTON – Saturday, January 24, 2026 – Mayor Moises Rodrigues today declared a snow emergency for the City of Brockton ahead of the forecasted winter storm. The Snow Emergency Parking Ban will take effect beginning at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, January 24.
Once the snow emergency is in effect, vehicles parked on any street or major roadways may be towed to allow for snow clearing operations. The City urges residents to comply with all snow regulations and encourages drivers to avoid unnecessary travel and use caution if they must be on the roads.
In the event of an emergency residents should call 9-1-1.
City and School Closures
Brockton City Hall and all non-public safety municipal offices will be closed on Monday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 27. Online services will remain available.
Brockton Public Schools will be closed on Monday, January 26 and Tuesday, January 27. All school-related activities, athletics, and programs on those days are canceled.
Trash and Recycling
Trash and recycling collection will be on a one-day delay beginning Monday, January 26. Residents should place carts out according to their adjusted collection schedule. Please keep carts off the sidewalk during the storm.
Mayor’s Statement
“Our city crews are preparing for the storm and will be working around the clock to keep Brockton safe,” said Mayor Rodrigues. “We ask residents to stay inside whenever possible, check on neighbors and loved ones, and stay off the roads to allow emergency and public works crews to do their jobs.”
Snow Emergency and Parking Regulations

The Brockton Department of Public Works will have crews and equipment deployed to treat roads prior to snowfall and will continue plowing and sanding operations throughout the storm. Crews will prioritize main roads, emergency routes, and public safety locations.
City departments remain in coordination to monitor conditions and respond as needed.
