Winthrop Farwell, Jr. has served in every elected office in Brockton. He spent ten years on the school committee, four years as Mayor, and was elected to the City Council in 2015.
For three years he served as Commissioner of Public Safety in Massachusetts following appointment by the governor.
Councilor Farwell holds a Bachelor of Science degree from Northeastern University and a Masters Degree in Education from Boston University.
Currently he is a member of the Accounts Committee, the Committee on Ordinances and the Public Safety Committee.
In 1881, his great-grandmother was the first woman elected to office in the city, serving on the Brockton School Committee.
