ISO Class 1 Department
On January 1, 2017 the Brockton Fire Department was upgraded to an ISO Class 1 rating by the National Insurance Services Office Inc., an independent New Jersey-based company that provides industry-wide ratings for all insurance companies in the United States seeking detailed information on public safety capabilities of municipal fire fighting and prevention classification. Brockton’s upgrade makes it only the 5th Department in the Commonwealth to reach this achievement.
Under the leadership of Chief Brian F. Nardelli, with the support of the Mayor and the City Council, Brockton’s Fire Department continues to maintain Emergency Services during difficult economic times to a diverse, multicultural population. In 2021 the Department responded to 26,136 incidents in the city. 
The Brockton Fire Department trains daily to stay abreast of the latest firefighting and EMS techniques. Its Fire Prevention and Code Enforcement Office works to maintain compliance with applicable state statutes and city ordinances to provide a safe environment for both residents and firefighters.

The lack of rain has enhanced the fire risk across the state over the past few weeks. Over the weekend, several brushfires throughout the state and as close as Stoughton plagued firefighters. Please use caution when outside with your smoking materials and other heat sources.
