Water Transmission valve phase #2

The City of Brockton is commencing construction of upgrades and improvements to the City of Brockton’s water transmission mains. This project will include removing existing piping, fittings, valves, and manholes on the twin 24-inch water transmission mains and existing 12- and 6-inch interconnections and furnishing and installing new 24- and 20-inch ductile iron piping, fittings, valves, and hydrants. It is imperative to rehabilitate the crossovers and transmission main gate valves so the City can continue to receive safe and reliable drinking water in the event of a future transmission main break.

The construction is scheduled to commence Thursday, October 6th and will continue through Thanksgiving (November 24th, 2022). The majority of the work will be done Monday through Thursday, between the hours of 7:00 a.m. and 4:00 p.m.  The construction may cause discolored water in varying degrees in all sections of the city.  Persons who experience water discoloration should clear their water systems by opening the cold water faucet for several minutes and then wait about an hour.  If water is still not clear, they should repeat the flushing procedure.  Every effort will be made to keep inconvenience to the users at a minimum.  The Public Works Department – Utilities Division cannot be responsible for any damages incurred as a result of the activity.  Should further information be desired, please call 508-580-7865 between the hours of 7:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m
