Call the meeting to order:
- Motion to accept April 8th minutes.
Current Business: April Event:
• QUICK DISCUSSION: about the “Meet the Commissioners event, 4/16/26. What went well, what could have gone better? What knowledge can we bring from this to the May 12th event?
• NOTES from what they said are important ways we can impact women in Brockton
• MAY EVENT: Brockton Women Business Owners-Tuesday, May 12th at 9 a.m. at NeighborWorks (Breakfast meet & greet).

-The mayor would like us to host a Breakfast event in October in honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, and he is looking forward to it.
New Business: Next WC meeting: Wednesday, May 20th -5:30-6:30 pm-In Person

-Donations: Dry Cleaner donation-Deve Celestin, owner of Affordable Dry Cleaners, donated pressing for our banner. Also Shaw’s-Food (John at Belmont store),-Flowers, etc. Roz Green, head of operations (Rosalind ‘Roz’ Green, c: 401-595-1730, [email protected]. Metro South Chamber of Commerce, HarborOne Bank and Rosario Real Estate (they’ve donated to other orgs). Donated to Trish White, NeighborWorks ‘Chocolate, Cheese & Wine’ Event. Also donated-Pires Family Treats and Flower Shop for the raffle items. SCU & Metro South Chamber sponsored the ‘The Women Owned Majority Business Panel (2026).

-Brockton Women’s Business Directory-(Bev idea)-create an online directory-ask the city to link it on the city website. It could later become a paid booklet, and the money could go to pay for the printing.

-Translations: Google Translate, powered by (AI)Gemini, is the new translation champion. It’s smart enough to handle slang & idioms–works with 133 different languages. Natasha Jean-Gilles does translations.
-Free Meeting Rooms/ Venues-Mary Waldron has offered her large front room at Old Colony Planning Council; SCA Credit Union-Bethany Souto; Massasoit College-Donna LeCler (may need liability insurance). Pyramid Bar, Restaurant and Function Hall (Trish White used for Chocolate, Cheese & Wine event. Massasoit CC Women’s Resource Center-
-Women’s Commissions-in MA-(we have list)-Boston, Brookline, Cambridge, Worcester, Chelsea, Sommerville-talk about ways to share ideas-invite to a Zoom meeting-possible speaker-but more to share what’s working and what’s not.
-Future WC events| Ideas: Black maternal care, financial literacy for women & girls, Working Mother’s Summit, Women’s Commission Breakfast.
-Contact Michelle Davidson, we know her—Chair, Plymouth County Commission on the Status of Women & Girls, for ideas for a financial literacy event in the spring. Have women talk about how financial stress has affected their lives and how they changed it. Can have 5 different speakers.
