John O’Donnell joined the City of Brockton as a Member of the Board of Assessors in February 2014, and was appointed Chairman of the Board of Assessors in July 2015.
John holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Business Administration from St. Francis Xavier University and is a Massachusetts Certified Residential Real Estate Appraiser.
The Chairman of the Board of Assessors is the Chief Assessor and is responsible for determining and maintaining all assessments which establish the valuation of real estate and personal property within the City. Responsibilities in his role are to perform a wide range of administrative duties including, but not limited to, determining new growth from all new construction of residential and commercial properties, preparing information for the annual classification of property, preparation of tax rate documentation and recapitulation for state certification and supervises the processing of all abatement and exemption applications.
