OUTDOOR WATER BAN IN EFFECT OCTOBER 8th

Due to the drought currently impacting our region, the City of Brockton is instituting a MANDATORY WATER RESTRICTION on ALL NON-ESSENTIAL OUTDOOR WATER use effective WEDNESDAY, OCTOBER 8.
Violations of these restrictions will result in a fine.
What is nonessential outdoor water use?
Nonessential outdoor water use refers to water that is not necessary for public
health, safety, or to support core business functions. Common examples
include:

  • Automatic sprinkler or irrigation system use.
  • Washing vehicles, except at a commercial car wash or for safety reasons.
  • Washing hard surfaces like driveways, patios, and sidewalks.
  • Filling swimming pools, hot tubs, or fountains.

Are there exceptions to water restrictions?
Yes, certain water uses may be exempt, even during restrictions:

  • Watering for health and safety purposes.
  • Watering new lawns or planting
  • Watering for the core function of a business (e.g., nurseries) or for the production of food.
