He emphasized that the City’s partnership with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA), which will cover a significant portion of the cost, represents a “once in a lifetime opportunity” and called on the School Committee and administration to work together to ensure the project moves forward.

“I am going to spend every single breath that I possess to make sure that this thing is done,” Mayor Rodrigues said, encouraging committee members and school officials to unite behind the effort to bring the new school to fruition. He added that the City stands to receive an $800 million school at very little cost to taxpayers because of the MSBA contribution.

“We owe it to every single resident of this city, but more importantly, we owe it to every single kid in this community, to see to it,” he said.
