Shoe City
Our City is grounded in a proud history of manufacturing. Brockton has always been a center of manufacturing and innovation. Around 1900, there were about 95 primary shoe factories, along with roughly another 100 component factories in the city. We still have at least two shoe-related manufacturers in Brockton: Barbour Corporation and Montello Heel Manufacturing, both in Brockton for well over 100 years.

Currently, Brockton is home to no fewer than 80 manufacturers. In recent weeks, Mayor Rodrigues was privileged to visited two local manufacturers, Mi Niña and GTR Manufacturing, both of which showcase the innovation thriving in Brockton today. From advanced metal fabrication to modern food production rooted in tradition, these companies highlight the skill, precision, and entrepreneurial spirit that define our city.
These businesses demonstrate what Brockton can achieve by building on its industrious legacy and continued success.
