The City of Brockton welcomes Jorge Vega as its new Chief Information Officer. In this role, Jorge will oversee the City’s technology systems, cybersecurity, network infrastructure, software applications, and technology projects that help city departments effectively serve residents.
Jorge brings years of technology leadership experience in schools, nonprofit organizations, and government. He has managed large technology budgets, led IT teams, improved technology systems, strengthened cybersecurity, and helped organizations use technology to work more efficiently and better serve their communities. His experience includes computer networks, cloud services, data management, technical support, telecommunications, and technology access initiatives.
Jorge believes technology should make government services more reliable, accessible, and easier to use. His focus is on supporting city employees, improving services for residents, and ensuring that technology helps the City operate effectively and securely.
In addition to his technology career, Jorge has served as a Brockton School Committee representative, co-chair of the Brockton Library Board of Trustees, and writer-in-residence at the Boston Public Library. He is also the author of the graphic novel Gunplay and other creative works that explore identity, resilience, and community.
