The Brockton Public Library is pleased to announce the appointments of Pauline Anderson (Sister Fabu) as the City’s new Poet Laureate (PL) and Adriana D’Haiti as Youth Poet Laureate (YPL). Both bring extraordinary talent and dedication to the literary arts, and will represent the City of Brockton as ambassadors for poetry, literacy, and creative expression.
Pauline Anderson, known as Sister Fabu, is a reality poet and author of Through My Looking Glass. Born in Jamaica and raised in the Bronx, she has performed her work in libraries, colleges, shelters, bookstores, and political venues, and has hosted a podcast dedicated to survivors of abuse. Her poetry addresses issues of abuse, slavery, homelessness, love, and resilience. As Poet Laureate, she will lead initiatives to bring poetry to new audiences and inspire community dialogue through art.
National ACT-SO Competition in Charlotte, North Carolina. As Youth Poet Laureate, Adriana will use her voice to inspire young people in Brockton to express their experiences and creativity through poetry.
D’haiti takes the reins from Inaugural Brockton Youth Poet Laureate Hanna Baptiste, who served in the role since 2020.
