Director of Social Services
Koren Cappiello has been the Director of Social Services for the Office of the Mayor, in the City of Brockton since 2010. In her role, she helps individual’s access resources and helps connect people to services, while developing new ideas and programs relating to mental health, substance use, homelessness, and youth. She also oversees and develops prevention and intervention programs for youth, while managing the overall operation of the “Champion Plan”, which assists individuals with Substance Use Disorders, and the “Haven,” a community day resource center for the homeless.
Koren is a graduate from Stonehill College and holds a Master’s Degree in Public Administration from John Jay College of Criminal Justice in NYC and a Master’s Degree in Social Work from Bridgewater State University. She served in the Peace Corps in Cape Verde. She is a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker (LICSW) and a Licensed Alcohol and Drug Counselor (LADC I). She serves on the Area Board of the Department of Children and Families, as well as the boards of the National Parent support Group “Learn to Cope”, the Champion Plan Inc, and the Haven Inc.
