Community Justice Task Force

Following a pledge he took from the Obama Foundation and My Brother’s Keeper Alliance, Mayor Robert Sullivan formed a Community Justice Task Force in order to review police use of force policies; engage the community by including a diverse range of input, experiences, and stories; and report the review findings to the community. This past Wednesday, Mayor Rodrigues had the honor of hosting the Mayor’s Clergy Lunch — a meaningful opportunity to connect with Brockton’s faith leaders and hear directly from those who serve and support our community every day.

The group had thoughtful conversations about unity, service, and how we can continue working together to uplift families across Brockton.

When we build strong partnerships with our clergy and community leaders, we strengthen the heart of our city and move forward together. #BrocktonDiversity #BrocktonCommunity #CityofChampions #Brockton

This week, Mayor Rodrigues and his team spent an afternoon strengthening the bond between our City and Bridgewater State University. At the Lewis and Gaines Center, the group talked about the importance of belonging. In the Cyber Lab, I saw students training for the high-tech jobs of tomorrow. And at the Career Services and Internship Center, we focused on making sure that when students graduate, they bring those incredible talents to our great City.

The "Brockton-to-BSU" pipeline is real, and it’s thriving. To every Brockton student the Mayor spoke with that day, your City is proud of you, and we’re ready for you when you cross that finish line.

Thank you to President Fred Clark, Vinny DeMacedo, and the entire BSU community for the warm welcome and for being such vital partners in our students' success. Let’s keep building.

On Monday, February 1, Mayor Rodrigues hosted the first flag-raising ceremony of his term, the African American Flag Raising, to kick off Black History Month in Brockton.

The event brought together elected officials and members of the community in a meaningful celebration. We extend our sincere thanks to our speakers for their inspirational remarks: Tony Branch, First Vice President of the Brockton Area Branch NAACP; Jasmine Hodges, Co-Founder of the African American Association of Brockton; Marline Amedee, CEO of Haitian Community Partners; and Jacqueline Jones, Co-Founder and Director of the Harambee Learning and Cultural Center.

As a proud majority-minority city, Brockton’s strength lies in its diversity, unity, and the shared commitment to uplifting every voice in our community.
