Virtual Author Talk-Ernest Hebert
Join us for a virtual author talk from Ernest Hebert. He is the author of many novels set in New Hampshire and New England. Most prominent are the eight Darby Chronicles, which chronicle the lives of New Hamphirites, from multiple backgrounds and social classes, in a rural town throughout the late 20th century. In another novel, The Old American, he describes the relationship between colonists and Native Americans in 18th-century New England. He is a retired professor of English from Dartmouth College. He describes his goal as telling the stories of “working people without idealizing or demeaning them and without standing them up against the wall to represent some political ideology or notion of the author. I’m especially interested in the interior lives of working people, a territory ignored by most literary writers.”
