Social justice is the view that everyone deserves equal economic, political and social rights and opportunities. This book club will combine children’s understanding of differences and books to teach social justice. For ages 8+.
There will be four 75-minute sessions, held once-a-month in-person at the Brockton Public Library, and/or via Zoom. Each program will include a different social justice issue, such as celebrating diversity, equity, gender and discussion. Students will be given a copy of an age-appropriate book to read several weeks in advance, and may keep the book. Discussions will be led by Brockton residents Willie Wilson Jr and Aminah Pilgrim who work with youth and who are college professors who teach social justice and African American history.
