Be part of a powerful Brockton tradition! Join neighbors, friends, and community leaders for our Annual Reading of Frederick Douglass’ iconic speech:
“What to the Slave is the Fourth of July?”
This annual event—hosted by the Frederick Douglass Neighborhood Association—brings our community together to reflect, honor, and raise our voices in unity. 🌍 Brockton proudly stands out as the the first city in Massachusetts to read the speech in multiple languages, including Haitian Creole, French, Portuguese, Spanish, Polish, Vietnamese, Lithuanian, Cape Verdean and more.
