October 24, 2020 @ 2:00 pm - 3:00 pmFree
Brockton Public Library – Brockton Symphony Chamber Music Series Saturday, October 24th at 2pm, we feature the Andromeda Quintet, performing contemporary music by: women composers Jennifer Higdon & Lauren Bernofsky; Ewazen’s Colchester Fantasy, evoking Colchester England with its Roman wall and Norman castle, with each movement named for a local pub; Kamen’s warm & noble Quintet; John Cheetam’s Scherzo, evocative of old Wild West film scores; and Morley Calvert’s Suite from the Monteregian Hills, based on French-Canadian folk songs, with a title inspired by the eight mountains ranging in an arc from Mount Royal in Montreal south to the American border. Named after the galaxy nearest our own, Andromeda Quintet provides adventurous listening experiences for audiences of all ages. The group brings together five of Boston’s most dynamic musicians and educators. They have performed across the United States at venues including the International Women’s Brass Conference, and the College Music Society Northeast Regional Conference. The quintet was recently featured on the All Newton Music School faculty recital series, and they have also produced and performed a number of outreach and educational programs. All safety regulations established by the state will be followed including physical distancing and masks required at all times.
