Process to File a Claim for Vehicle Damage from Potholes or Property Damage

Claims can be sent via email, City of Brockton’s online form, or U.S. Mail within thirty (30) days pursuant to M.G.L. c.84, §18.

All auto damage claim forms must include:

  • Year, make and model of vehicle
  • Location of pothole (provide house number/business number/closest pole number)
  • Details of damage
  • Estimate of damage or copy of paid bill receipt
  • Pictures of damages

All property damage claim forms must include:

  • Location of property
  • Type of damage
  • Details of damage
  • Estimate of damage or copy of paid bill receipt
  • Pictures of damages

Please note that you should mitigate the damage(s) (fix the damage) to your vehicle and/or property as the City investigates its liability and follow up with the Law Department.
