Fiscal 2026 Abatement Applications

The Real Estate and Personal Property Abatement process ONLY RELATES to the VALUE on YOUR property.

Real Estate and Personal Property Abatement Applications have a FILING DEADLINE established by Massachusetts State Law.

The Abatement Applications must be received in the Assessors' Office and only the Assessors' Office by Monday February 2nd 2026 end of Business Day (4:30pm EST)

The Abatement Applications can be postmarked BY the United States Post Office with Monday February 2nd 2026.

If and only if City Hall is closed February 2, 2026, due to inclement weather - The deadline will be extended to the next Business day the Hall is open.

Applications placed under the door or dropped in another office will be considered LATE and no further action can be taken. The applications must be time and date stamped as the filing period is governed by state law.
